Who is Reading your Blog? – Part 1
So, you started your new gardening blog that you are so passionate about a month back and you still have your best friend and your pet as the only visitors?? You are desperate now and searching for tips to get more visitors to your blog…therefore, you are reading this blog!! Do you see what I did here? Did you understand why you are a visitor to my blog but I am not a visitor to yours?
Let me reveal you the secret. You are reading this because I somehow found out that this is what my readers want to read! It is this simple and this is the secret of any successful blog that is on the Internet today.
The central idea to write a blog, even if it is about your favorite topic is who is reading it? However, before you can analyze what your reader wants next, one has to first understand who is reading your blog or for the benefit of the newbie’s who should be reading your blog. There are many ways you can determine that –
# Find your niche: Before you start protesting “But gardening is my niche!” think again. When you try to find more about gardening, do you just Google “gardening”? Most of us won’t. A normal Internet user would want to read his specific area of interest which might be “where to get the pesticides for my garden”, or may be, “gardening tips for a beginner”. Therefore, drill down in to blog topic, analyze what do you love about that topic and make that your niche…so, your blog USP can be – gardening tips for a beginner! That will give you visitors who actually want to read what you have so painstakingly written.
# Polls: Now that is a very good tool that most of the blogs give it free and an excellent way to know what your readers want. Nevertheless, do not shove it aside in one corner of your blog. Try to blend it with one of your blog posts where there are more chances that readers would actually take the survey. Your polls can be worded in a way that would point to the next topic and can be discussed with your readers.
# Forums: Once you have decided on your USP, it becomes easier for you to know where your readers would lie. Visit various forums where you can find your potential readers discussing your ideas. Not only would you get many ideas as to what your readers want, you can also leave in valuable comments and sneak in your blog address in it. However, do not just go and post your blog address there. It repels lot of users. Participate effectively in discussions to build readership before you can redirect them to your blog.
So, before you start typing out your next blog post, take time to know your readers first. Whether you love blogging or blogging for money, without those readers, none of your objectives would be met!
The golden rule is – successful blogs are made by readers, not writers! So, start on your journey to find readers for your blog!
Again, once you find them, how do you keep them? More in the next post…keep watching this space!
Hope you found it useful. Now, who is reading your blog? Share with us! Happy Blogging!!

You’ll never believe how many people actually type things like “technology blog” lol but I understand what you mean
I didn’t get you exact meaning
i think you can get this information from google trends.
It is important to have a loyal audience.
Having a niche blog can make it a little easier to get targeted readers.
Mine is a multi-topic blog so I face difficulty in keeping all my readers happy.
I am also facing the same problem.
Hey Lax, What is the requirement for guest posting? I read few months back that techzoomin is open for guest posting. How much Do you pay? Is it a revenue sharing blog or what?
Haa Ricky, its not revenue sharing. I won’t pay for guest posts too.. Mail me if you have any further queries on this
For multi topic blogs, traffic will be high, but all that comes from Search engines. For niche blogs, you can build loyal leadership.
Ya that’s right. Anyways I will have to look deep into this issue.
Yes. But you can Do it gradually..try to find which niche you can be turned easily..without loosing your current loyal readers
One of my blog is also face the problem as your, because my blog topic is about my daily life
.
Daily life blog is so popular on 3-4 years ago but i think it’s not for now, the trend just changed…
is it somewhat like an autobiography?
When you join first time some forums then you get new visits. but slowly those visits from reduced to minimum.
Some of those visitors will become loyal to you. May be that’s y you don’t see any visitors referred by that forum
I never participated in forums till now. Need to Do
I don’t care much about forum visitor. i participated to gather some links from sites. So, that we can increase SERP.
You should not get more then 10 links from one site. It is useless.
I saw one guy who gather 4 links at a time from dp forums and others. And he has many blogspot blogs. PR 4,3 and 2 etc.. And his links increased from 10,000 to 20,000. Key is, he gets visitors from SE. And those of targeted traffic in competitive niche.
Wow that a great idea you have give me
Thanks a lot for sharing that dude…
who is reading your blog: i think its depend upon test of mass user, if i find then user will love to read.
That becomes loyal readers
Thanks for your first comments here dude..!
I Do agree with you that ’successful blogs are made by readers not writers’. I would like to add one point. Without good marketing, content is king theory fails. You need to market your blog properly to expose ur blog to unlimited traffic.
I aint that active on forums, but I do visit socail networking websites.
That’s very true dude..Without marketing and social networks you can’t becomes successful even though you have good content. Thanks for pointing such a nice thing dude..!
Actually, with good Quality content only, you already Do marketing, dude.
People who read your article will refer their friend to the blog, and it’s called by world of mouth marketing. It’s automatic
i am also facing same problem because my blog not have one niche
Gradually you can turn that into a niche dude…That’s how TZI became make money blog
Actually, “make money blog” isn’t categorized as niche again, since there is already too many blog write about it and it’s become general topic on internet.
Niche is defined as “a market which unfully satisfied with current supply”, right?
Which mean, high demand, low supply (but now, the supply is so many)
now i turn my blog in to tech niche and now i have concentrate on it.
Another good series.
Great you loved it. Thanks Anish..!
Welcome
Hey Lax, I hope you’re using Hiburrito.com for your Polls
.
I never hosted a poll on TZI till now. I’m not a big fan of asking Polls
Wow I learn 2 new points to increase visitors….Polls and forums….Using polls we can know what our visitors want to read on our blog or what is their expectation.
Thanks
I’m saving your link because I will read the part 2 and part3 too
Thanks
Great you loved it dude..Thanks for your comments here..!
I must say it took me a while to find the loyal readers for my blog. I discovered that most Nigerian sites/blogs weren’t well optimized for the search engines and so I took ideas from the sales copy of various “gurus” and created them into keyword optimized posts. Each post catered to what most nigerian mmo newbie was searching for and guest what my 90% of my top posts are those targeted at Nigerians.
