Psychologically, most bloggers (including myself) will still monitor the blog. Less traffic or comment (already read your recent "don't link blog success with comments" post) can be really discouraging, especially for beginners. Like what you said, content is the king, every blogger should keep that in mind and don't think about generate revenue from the start, because it will never be successful if your first objective of blogging is to blog for money.
