Social Media Etiquettes Should be Followed

From our childhood we have learned etiquettes like how to talk, how to eat, how to behave in meetings and many more. But nowadays entire world spend their Maximum time on internet and social media thus it is most important to learn social media etiquette to get successful online.

Here are some etiquettes which everyone should remember while using social media websites to promote your website or product.

#1 Be Polite

Key point to remember is to be polite, never use dominating comments or words about others even if they make mistakes because human make mistakes and they learn from their mistakes. Thus, if you find that someone has made a mistake send them polite email instead of making fun of them.

#2 Build Relationships

It is very easy to ruin any relation but very tough to gain trust. People will only trust you if you help them and always be good to them. Building relationship is always from both sides, thus if others are trying to build relationship with you then you should also be nice with them.

#3 Respect your Visitors

Know your audience, what they want to hear from you or read on your website. Never find others beneath than you, all are equal and have some or other qualities thus respect other’s online Reputation as you respect your online reputation. Try to write for your readers and reveal facts in such a way that it doesn’t hurt other’s feelings and never make misuse of their personal information.

#4 Show Gratitude

If someone has helped you always try to give more to him/her. If you got some good ideas from others about your online business, always remember to show gratitude towards others by Promoting their online business or sending thank you note on their social profile.

#5 Stop Disturbing Others

Don’t always send messages or emails to others to promote your online business, write Comment on your blog, exchanging links or to clicking on your Adsense links. All these approaches can ruin your online image and thus people might start avoiding you. If you want them to help you, just send a polite email and wait for reply.

#6 Take Feedback Positively

If others send you negative feedback, try to improve yourself or provide relevant facts to prove you are right, but remember to be polite while replying them and take it positively to improve your mistakes.

You’re right, we all need to learn social media etiquette. The way we act and write gives us our Reputation. Our reputation then determines how visitors to our site will feel about us, and hence that determines how successful we can be.

    • Ben says:

Yeh, when you build relationships with people, they are more likely to help you out. Be that, supporting you blog, regularly visiting it, or marketing. e.g. retweet/share your content.

  • Agent 001 says:

Nice post. I always try to be polite and nice and helpful but sometime I go the wrong way too.

Anyways Building relationships is important. You sometime need to get involved with your readers.

    • Ben says:

Yes, Building a relationship can also build trust. Darren Rowse from Problogger has a great Reputation and therefore people trust him. He often mentions how important trust between yourself and your readers is, and that’s why I think he’s been so successful.

    • Ben says:

Sorry if this posts twice Lax. Internet lost connection.

  • akira07 says:

Good tips, make the use of social media to get traffic, its not a sin.

  • Very good reminders Lax,

All tips above would end up making good relationship to others. Not just in our offline lifestyle, but also in the virtual world of internet connected through social media.

Thank you for the reminders, it make me feel that my father teaches me good deeds wherever we go…

  • I would like to add one more point to this, “don’t spam” ! :D

And, yes, respecting visitors is a key point.. no matter how they behave.. or act.. we should treat them properly ! ;)

  • ZXT says:

Those 6 tips are right to the point. Somewhat I’ve been doing them all already but this article will make me just Do better. Thanks.

  • Ruchi says:

Adding to the point, never ever show fake Adsense earning , visitors etc.

    • Ben says:

Yes absolutely. I don’t understand why people make up Adsense earnings. That makes your visitor think that your only inspiration to blog is the money. And the fake visitors…I mean come on – that’s not fooling anyone.

    • Agent 001 says:

Who shows fake Adsense? I have never seen anyone doing that. How many have you seen?

      • Ben says:

I’ve seen it around. People tend to use that Adsense generator website to create legitimate-looking earning reports, and then display them on their website as a ‘monthx earnings report’.

      • Ruchi says:

There are many examples on the net where you can find fake Adsense earnings just to attract more visitors, i have visted few sites earlier which will talk big and show you fake adsense earning which is not genuine, you are right that it is hard to cross verify that there adsense earning is fake.

        • akira07 says:

So, how to know if Adsense earnings shown on the blog is fake or no? It’s a kind of criminal, i think..

          • Ben says:

It’s very hard to tell whether the earning are fake or not, because the pub-id is usually blurred out when it’s generated. You could always take a look at their traffic though, and that should give you a pretty good indication as to what their earnings should be.

Oh, and no, I don’t think it’s illegal.

    • I agree with you Ruchi ! ;)

Once I tried to use Fake Adsense Generator to fool my friends… but unfortunately after that .. fate made me to close my adsense a/c ! :(

    • ZXT says:

Hahaha, are you trying to…ahem….to someone?

I am not sure how a fake Adsense will help somebody’s blog….so I’m puzzled why they Do it.

  • Anish KS says:

Follow these 6 and the important is wait some times for results, its the real key.

  • Jimmy says:

Great tips. Building relationships via social Bookmarking is great and it certainly get a lot of traffic. great tips :)

  • nice post….i found the tip #5 funny at important at the same time….we should never disturb someone just to promote some product. it hampers our image

    • Ben says:

Not only that, but exchanging Adsense clicks is against Google’s T&Cs. Their filters are pretty strong, and you’d get caught and Banned in no time.

      • Agent 001 says:

Why are you talking about Adsense anyway? You should debate on what Lax or commentator say not just butt in random things.

Hey Lax, please look into what people are commenting. Do not allow comments which are not to point.

        • Ben says:

@Agent 001 Point number 5 states, “Don’t always send messages or emails to others to promote your online business, write Comment on your blog, exchanging links or to clicking on your Adsense links.”

That’s the reason people are discussing Adsense. Lax mentioned it in his post. Maybe you didn’t notice it.

    • Agent 001 says:

Well you should not disturb people too much but it is sometime good to disturb them. At least once a month/ You should make them aware of you presence.

To Do so just mail them. Share some joke. Invite them for something. Whatever you do. just do not piss them.

  • Agent 001 says:

    Hey Lax

Is this type of Comment allowed. I know Anish is a good commentator here but these comments should not be allowed.

Please look into what I am saying. You can delete my comment too.

Anish sorry if I am being harsh but it looks like many here are just spamming. They are talking less about the post content and sometime entering random topics.

    • Lax says:

Well thanks for the notice dude.. I Do noticed Anish Comment. But i should be liberal for 1 or 2 comments. But i promise you guys that, i’ll not allow spammers.

Anyway i strongly felt its not a genuine comment. I guess its some ping back kind of thing from Tweetmeme. I deleted it.

      @Anish,

Sorry for that. But hope to see full support from you :)

  • akira07 says:

You can read about my “being polite” problem in my previous post. So Do you have a solution?

Actually, i’m thinking on 1 solution. How about, in every beginning of post, i’m always state that “Hi, in the first, i’m sorry that my english is not too good”? So their will know if i’m being impolite is all because languange matter.

  • Karen Dayle says:

  • ZXT says:

These tips is for both sides. Both blog owner and visitors should follow these tips. But usually the visitors are those leaving bad and vulgar comments and usually those people doesn’t have their own blogs.
