My WP Dashboard reminding me upgrade to 2.6.2 version. I planned for the same but after seeing roadmap of WordPress I postponed my upgrade plans, because roadmap showing yet another release 2.7 with in a month from now.  Seems to be WP Team planned a new version release for every 3 months.

Few words from WP Team: After the 2.1 release, we decided to adopt a regular release schedule every 3-4 months with the features primarily driven by ideas voted on by our users. Here are the current planned releases, and links to their respective milestones in our bug tracker.

The month prior to a release new features are frozen and the focus is entirely ensuring the Quality of the release by eliminating bugs and profiling the code for any performance issues.

So postpone all your upgrade plans for now and wait for most friendly & features version 2.7.And if you want something more out of WP Developers, Do post your suggestion to them. They will try to satisfy you.
