Make Money Online Through Donations
In order to make money online, we all try out various advertising services and put up their ads on our site. That is a very common way of making money online. Apart from that, you can also make good amount of money my asking for donations in your site.
But at the same time you should also keep in your mind that if you are having a very popular site and you are earning quite a good amount of money from that, then it may not be appreciated by many of your blog readers. Here, I will tell you different ways using which you can get donation from the readers.
What Are the Different Ways To Collect Money Through Donations?
#1 ScratchBack
ScratchBack is an online “tipping” system (or as we like to call it, a fancy-schmancy tip jars). It allows you, the blogger, to accept tips and “give back” links or Images in return on your blog or website. It’s absolutely free service. You can first accept tip and earn money from every tip you get. You don’t need to have any special skills to use or setup. This is considered to be very useful for podcasters too. Moreover, links or images provided here are hardcoded with a nofollow tag to make it Google friendly.
#2 paypal
PayPal donations are very common way to collect donations from your site. You just need to add a button on your website or you can use a link in your email. PayPal Donations is a low cost way for you to accept credit card and bank account donations. Integrate PayPal Donations with your website in a few easy steps. It’s very easy to implement with no necessary CGI scripting. There are no up-front costs – you’ll have the same low fee schedule used when you receive other PayPal payments. They maintain detailed transaction records on their website so that you can collect your amount easily. Moreover, donors have the freedom to choose the amount of their secure donation, or you too can set a fixed amount.
#3 Chipin
The ChipIn widget is a simple Flash application that allows you to keep people up-to-date on ChipIn events you organize to collect money. The widget works with any Web page and many popular social media Web sites such as: myspace, typepad, blogger, netvibes, WordPress, teagworld etc. You just need to embed the ChipIn Widget on your favorite Web site or create your own ChipIn page at yourname.chipin.com.
How to Encourage your Readers to Come Forward for Donations?
We all know that one will not go for any kind of donation if he/she is not getting anything out of it. So, first of all your site should contain information that are very useful to them. This is ideal for those who are allowing their readers to download some product and make use of it for free. You should first make a separate page for donation purpose. Then you can mention the reason for asking donation along with the different ways through which they can donate like paypal, chipin or scratchback etc.
You can also put up the list of those who have made donations with the person donating Maximum at top with his/her donation amount. You should also put the Permalink of the person’s blog with his name. These have a good impact on the reader’s mind and they easily come forward to donate and be on the list.
Let me know if you have any donation page in your blog? What Do you feel about them?

I think not many people use donations as their wont be many people donating money, however if you have a really popular blogging and get tons of traffic you can try out the donation button and ask for $1.
If you have areally popular blog and have fantastic content and give away valuable freebies, then there might be a chance of a donation by somebody.
Acc to you i should gets lots of donation since i only blog about freebies
Download File website and arcade is fit place to use donation, of course if your content is free.
.
Well, anyway, we can’t ask for certain and fix amount for donation, it’s seem embarassing
I ever donate 1x, because i find what i’m looking for in that site.
Nice idea but sometimes your blog will look bad when a donation button is on place.
Why is this so?
I dunno…maybe it will look cheap. But if you can put it in the right place then maybe its okay. Come to think of it, I might try it next year.
Hmm placement is important. I think donation button is fit to be placed in the bottom of any widget on the sidebar. Because the concept of donation itself is just additional/bonus.
i already implied this way, still no money came.
I used to think that all bloggers are perfect business men and it’s tough to get money out of them , but your tips are really worth trying. thanks for sharing.
I think, blogs are not really about making money when it started years ago. This only happened when many old time bloggers earn huge amount of money through monetizing their blog. That’s why many are trying to Do blogging only for money.
Yeah blogging is all about sharing your thoughts. Then those ads in regular websites (banners) came then Adsense and so on.
i think paypal is the best way to accept donations…nyways i Do not accept donation nd neither i have a donation page
But are you planning to put one now? Me, I’m still hesitating to put one because, I feel, I’m begging for money.
i also feel the same that donation = begging for money
NIce one Lax! I’ll put one on my blog too later. For now, I’ll keep putting some contents into it.
I’m beginning to hesitate because, someone told me that I’m begging for money…
Same thoughts here but I might give it a try for 3 months, if I get at least $5 a month then thats great if not maybe I should take it out.
i think paypal is the best way to accept donations
i dont like and also i am not intrested in asking donations from readers
unless you blog really have the fans base, there is no reason for people to donate, but if you one blog really help other people easily will help you with donation.
it just you have to give something first before ask
And it doesn’t sound good if your niche is about money making. How come you are asking for donation when you are preaching about how to make money through blogging. It’s like, you are not practicing what you preach.
Agree, it’s like a proof that you’re as money-making blog maker is not professional.
I think arcade game site is the best site to get donation.
I hope we can ask somebody how effective is a donation box.
Nice idea to make money i will add Donation Box on my blog ….!
Your blog is about misc content, Do you think it will be effective if you’re placing donation button?
Try to giving something usefull first.
It’s unique idea to get money, but we can’t say it as a business. And don’t hope so much on getting big amount of money.
