Importance of Links in SEO and PR Growth!
This is a Guest post by Pro-Vamsi from Newtechnologyinfo!
There is always a cat and mouse game between Bloggers and Google webmasters related to Page Rank. Bloggers work hard to attain a good page rank to their blog by concentrating on factors in the existing page ranking algorithm, in the mean while Google webmasters change the algorithm just before the PR update leaving no hint of the factors that are used in the changed algorithm.
However Links play a really crucial role in attaining a good Page Rank in any algorithm they use.So let’s look at the Importance of links in SEO:
Links: Links are really crucial for SEO, in fact webmasters/advertisers give huge Priority to the internal, inbound, out bounded links to your blog or website. Make sure that you have good number of back links from different blogs/websites under your niche but, don’t have too many links to/from the same blog or website as this is often considered as spamming.
Anchor Text That Matches the URL: Always remember while linking your blog to Different Forums, websites and blogs your Anchor text should match the URL of your link, this is a really important factor that increases your PR Incredibly.
Example: It is more prescribed to link the URL http://www.newtechnologyinfo.com to the anchor text “new Technology Info” than linking it to “Pro-Vamsi”, in fact this really helps to increase your PR but most of the bloggers neglects this factor (Including Me).
Origin of the link: Links from blogs/Web sites with good PR always helps in increasing your PR; this is often referred as origin of the inbound link. Make sure that you have good number of inbound links from pages with good PR.
What Not To Do:
- Having too many links from a same blog or a forum does not improve your rankings; this practice is often considered as link buying or link spamming. So don’t have more number of links from same blog or websites.
- Don’t have more than 100 links per page, Google often talks about this issue but nobody cares!! This practice may often decrease your PR.
These are some of the simple tips that you should know to improve your page Rank. Hope this article helped you!

Nice SEO article. I am trying to decrease the number of links per page. It is real difficult for Bloggers but Google seem to be not worried about Blogs. They seem to allow many links on a Blog. I Do not know know if it is officially true or not but it seems the case.
Pro-vamsi can you do some guest post on my blog too.

@ Agent,
I too don’t know how official it is dude. Vamsi needs to tell this
@ Agent,
In this page
http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769
Google mentioned this point!!
“Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100).”
Thanks for educating this Vamsi,
We use info links kind of ads right. Does these also be considered under links?
@TJG,
Well if your AD provider (like Google Adsense) asked you to put a Javascript code in your web page, then those Link ads will not be considered. This is because no search engines will process the output of Javascript code.
If you are directly putting a affiliate/referral link kind ads, then it will be considered.
@ Vamsi,
Thanks for the followups here dude.
@ TJG,
Good doubt dude, I don’t think the ads like kontera or infolinks will be considered under links.As they are dynamic links through script.
@ Inkapoint,
Great explanation dude. Thanks a lot for the clarifications here.
@Lax,
You are most welcome.
