How to Rank Your Blog High in Google Image Search Results
Lots of blogger manage to get good amount of traffic to their blog from Google image search results. This happens when the Images uploaded in their blog are ranked at the top of the image search result of the particular subject on which the article is published. If proper optimization is made in the blog to make it image search engine friendly, this can prove to be a good source of generating traffic to your blog.
Here, I will tell you 6 most useful SEO guidelines you should follow to rank your blog at the top of Google image search result.
- The text you put up below or near the image should be related to the image and the post you are going to publish. It should deal with the same topic that you have covered in the post. During indexing the images the text around the post are considered by the Google bots.
- The image caption or the text you put just below the image should tell about the image and the article that you have posted. If you have written an article to improve the page rank of a blog and put up an image displaying ‘Google Page Rank’, then you should write ‘Google Page Rank’ as the text below the image.
- The File type of the image files is also a major factor which decides their ranking in image search results. PNG files have the highest priority followed by JPG, GIF and others. So, try to give first priority to PNG images. In case you don’t have any other option, you can go for JPG or GIF images.
- The name of the image file associated with an article is also considered before their indexing in Google. The best way to name the image file according to the experts is to use any of the keywords of the same article to name it. For e.g. if you have keywords K1, K2, K3 used with one of the article, then you can post an image similar to the keyword and name it K1.png or K2.png or K3.png.
- The size of the image you post along with the article also plays an important role in making the image search friendly. The ideal size considered is 255*300 pixels. You can post images of size more than that too if it’s required but not less than that. Too small or too big images are not search engine friendly.
- The URL of the page and the Headline of the post should be directly related to the name and the subject of the image file uploaded along with the post. You should not set a title which is different in context from the image you load along with the article.
I think if you keep the above points in your mind, then you can surely manage to get good amount of traffic to your site through the images you post in your blog. For which site? I check your site which used on your Comment, and it’s no result at all.
Just know that image format also affects ranking. I always use PNG because it’s a great format for screenshots I set my SnagIt default output to PNG.
But for publishing on your blog purpose, i think use PNG is not good since mostly people searching for JPG and GIF one. Even as stated, PNG is the first priority, but it’s from SE and not from people.
I just know that the PNG have higest rating in search engine.
Cool info, Optimize Images (Provide Keyword as alt=”"), upload image on your-own site is better.
