I am great fan of your writing and your blog Lax, but I felt shocked to see this post in my RSS reader today. Buying followers? its a big #FAIL … It completely defeats the purpose of Twitter. One must “EARN” the followers and not “BUY” them. Only then you would gain trust of your followers and hence gain more authority, which in turn translates into money.

Are you sure Johnchow and/or Shoemoney are buying followers? They might be automating their tweets and might even be auto-following people who follow them. But it is still different from buying followers. I have seen innumerable contests from these high profile bloggers where in they ask people to follow them and be eligible for some cool prizes. Why should they Do that if they can BUY followers?
The point is, the services like BuyTwitterFriends create numerous fake accounts and get them to follow you and it won’t be long till Twitter identify those fake accounts and delete them. All your money will go down the drain even before you start making money
I’m not saying that they are buying… If they want only loyal followers, then why they are auto following everybody. They can maintain Quality by following to whom they really need to. right?
It’s all personal opinion on this topic. One hard fact is that almost half of the twitter accounts are doing some kind of automation and earning money or traffic.
I agree that at some point twitter will find and delete all those fake accounts…It’s risk job and personal interest to try or invest

There are many automoted twitter follow software today which is FREE. I might agree that some successful bloggers today are using automated software in their early days of blogging.
Now, I think that they don’t need an automated software because they are already well known successful bloggers.
Using automated follow software for twitter have the high risk to get your account would be deleted or Banned by twitter administration.

I agree with Raju. You need to let our followers grow naturally. I am in your followers list and RTed your topics too.
Later I realised that it is a marketing tool for you. If you try to build good network yot might get more traffic. Dont think about just passing by visitors, try to get loyal readers.
How many links Do you click on twitter? Answer this and you will understand what i mean to say.

I’m not looking to drive traffic from twitter. I just wanna share to the people that you can earn from twitter.. As our job is to share the money making ways.
Reason why i brought is, to be frank i’ll not share anything before experiencing it. We all know that its not fair job to buy it… But how top blogger got 50K followers? Do you know?
Hope you’re following bloggers like johnchow or shoemoney, they are doing the same with some other means. And they are getting 200 or $300 per tweet.

It is more important for me to have targeted followers than follower count, in my application and business it’s pretty much key.
Yes its a key to have targeted followers in either twitter or feedburner or any other application.
I Do prefer that.. But not every one is doing the same..That how there are 1000′s of twitter supporting sites came and people earning money with it from sites likes sponsoredtweets and etc..

As Lax rightly said, if monetization is the only thing which we are planning to get from Twitter, then I think buying a couple of thousand followers now and then would Do no Harm.

This method maybe could help bloggers in some ways just gaining a large number of followers.
I also knew the information about how to earn money from twitter through http://sponsoredtweets.com.
But the question is, “Is your followers are targeted followers?”
Many twitter users have large number of followers through the process of exchange follows even though that the user they followed is not their targeted people.
I guess you know what I mean.
But in other side, this could be helpful to lure more targeted followers and subscribes.
If the twitter account only purposed for making money from our tweet, i think targetted/no is no longer a problem.
I already got around $20 from sponsoredtweets..and I don’t buy any followers…should apply some ethics to gain followers..unless you don’t care at all

Whilst it’s fun to get loads of followers on Twitter, you should focus on what content you are sending out! Not many people like to follow people who don’t tweet much at all, and in honesty what’s the point in becoming a Twit Celeb if you don’t have anything to share?
