I know this is as old as the hills, but I just found it now so it's new to me. Thank you for posting this--it's a lifesaver! I am forever accidentally closing multiple tabs, and often I can't remember what they were! This solution (if I can remember it) solves everything! Thank you thank you thank you!

This was really interesting that after thorough testing, Google releases anything. How can they really miss the basic UT Testing. :)

I've noticed if I double click certain parts of the tab bar, like the top left corner, or any other part that doesn't have tabs.... it does the unprompted close thing. Problem is I accidentally double click a lot, I habitually do it sometimes.

Call off the hounds folks! I found my answer under Help/Tabs & Windows. Never noticed that lower Chrome get acquainted sector before today.

OK. If you get an open tab page(s) without a top tab on it simply hit CONTROL + w and hey presto! the tab page closes! Thanks a lot for previous queries re Chrome though. Later- Jack/keimanzero

Sorry but sometimes Chrome does have a dialogue box onscreen like 'Close this tab or close all tabs' Then when you check the close all tabs I get another box 'Are you sure you want to close 'X' number of pages?' Then when you hit OK then it closes the works. Opera has a feature that does all of the above and then says 'Are you sure you want to close 'X' number of tabs? and besides OK there is a countdown clock in seconds reading 'Opera will close in 'X' number of seconds' then if you wait it closes or hit OK and it closes then and there. FF & IE9 (Beta) are polite that way too.

My problem is closing a single tab in Chrome. Yeah you right click the 'tab' & hit 'close tab' but and here's the kicker lads & lassies- this particular tab page has NO top tab on it. Right clicking its body shows no option to close the tab. Ditto on right clicking anywhere on the top search bar or in the search window. I never saw one until I hit a link to Friendster in a yahoomail email message. I had to use TM to shut it down and it took several tries after it crashed Adobe Shockwave and 'Aw Snapped' Chrome and crashed it as well. Can anyone help me out? Thanks-Jack/keimanzero
