The Negative Sides Of Joining A Blog Network

In my last article I have focused on the positive sides of joining a blog network. But as I have already mentioned that it has its negative sides too just to prove that it is not a one-sided thing. Although the positive sides of joining a blog network are many but you must also take into considerations its negative aspects too before signing up.

Following are the cons of joining a blog network, which you must know before signing up with a network;

Revenue Splitting: In the positive sides we have seen that blog networks increases your blog’s revenue earning, but on the other hand you Do not get the full revenue. Yes, you have to share your earnings with the owners of the network, which is no doubt counted on the negative side.
Ownership of Content: In many networks the content that is developed by you is owned by the blog network. In that case you only get the earnings earned by your contents during your time of stay with them. This means if you leave the network you do not get any more revenue sharing. So, before signing with a blog network you must verify about the ownership and rights of the content.
Limited Control: Many bloggers try to stay out of blog networks just because they do not want to lose control of their blog. Joining a blog network often leads to limited control, especially on the blog design, advertising, branding or promotion. While there are some networks who are very much flexible in this matter. So, you must be aware of this before the sign up.
Risk Level: Joining a blog network in other way means giving your blog into the hands of others. So, you must have a good track of what they are doing with your blog from time to time. Otherwise, it becomes a great risk for you and your blog as well.
Legal Aspects: Many of the blog networks include certain legal agreements, or other agreements regarding level of posts, content, or information. So, you must go through the legal aspect and the criteria before completing the signing process.

Last but not the least, my personal experience is not to rush for any deal or agreement with any blog network. You must always keep in mind all the aspects and have a closer study before signing up for blog networks.

WordPress Login Issues:WP-Admin Showing 404 Error Page

Yesterday i noticed a strange WordPress login problem. When i hit techzoomin.com/wp-admin, it’s simply taking me to 404 error page and if i try with techzoomin.com/wp-login.php, its showing the login page. But upon giving the credentials, its showing 404 page again. My mind was blank for one minute, my first doubt was “whether my blog got hacked?”

But thank God, Later i realized it as a known problem and Googled for the solution. Spent almost 2 hours on the web and tried many things like

Deleting .htaccess File and uploading the fresh one

Tried with replacing wp-login.php

Checking tables

Deleting/deactivating all the plugins

And many more…you can see some of them on WordPress Login troubles page. Later saw my friend Harsh of ShoutMeLoud online and explained him about the strange problem. Then we both started digging in. Btw Harsh found some article “wp-admin.php 404 not found Error Wordpress“, it didn’t give me 100% solution, but it gave some idea to play with folder attributes.

Then started changing file attributes in Filezilla and succeeded finally. Here is the solution for you

1. Login to your FTP and go to /public_html/wp-admin

2. Right click on wp-admin folder and click on File Attributes

3. Change the value to 755 and check the Recurse into subdirectories checkbox

4. Click Ok

Repeat the same 4 steps for wp-content and wp-includes also.

Now clear your browser cache and try to login to your WordPress admin panel. You’ll be able to login now. Contact us if you see any problem.

Finding Width Of Your Blog Header Isn’t Difficult

Have you got a question from any of your reader? Are you really confused about finding the width of your blog’s header? Well, this is not so difficult and you can easily find so by signing into your Dashboard.

To get the width of the blog Header, after you sign in to your Dashboard go to the relevant blog section and click on LAYOUT. After clicking on the LAYOUT, click the EDIT TEMPLATE, which will open the template editor window. Search the entire template for the following block of code;

#header-wrapper {

width:850px;

margin:0 auto 12px;

border:1px solid $bordercolor;

}

The above piece of code is from the blog’s template and tells about the width of the Header, which is 850 pixels in this case. Just as we have found the width of the blog Header, you can also get the width of your blog’s sidebars and main Column. For getting the width of the sidebars and main column, search for the following piece of codes in the same template;

#sidebar-wrapper {
width: 130px;
float: right;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fixes for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
}

#main-wrapper {
width: 450px;
margin-left: 22px;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fixes for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
}

The first set of code tells about the width of the sidebars, which is 130 pixels in this case. The second block of code tells about the width of the main column, which is 450 pixels in this case. So, now if you get any question from your blog readers regarding the width of Header or main column and sidebars, you have got the answer ready.

Know The Basic Image HTML Tags

Just as the text formatting tags, there are defined HTML tags for formatting Images too. In HTML, images are defined with a special tag and there are certain formats to display the same image known as attributes. Let’s know the basic image HTML Tags with a closer look.

Basic Image HTML Tags

– This is the basic syntax of defining and displaying an image, where the ‘src’ attribute stands for ‘source’, the value of which is the URL of the image you want to display.

– This is also the basic syntax of defining and displaying an image but with two more attributes, which sets the image size.

– This syntax is used to define the image where the name of the image is provided in the ‘src’ attribute with your preferred alignment. You can substitute ‘right’ with ‘left’ to get a left alignment of the image.

– This is an important HTML image tagging known as ‘Alt Tag’. Here you can give a short description in the ‘alt’ attribute to tell the readers what actually is missing, in case if the image fails to load in their browser.

– This syntax is used to put a link to the image where the image itself acts as a link to some other page. Here, the ‘link url’ is the url of the page you want to link to with the image and the second ‘url’ is the actual location path of the image.

– This syntax is used with the image tag to put border around the image. The number in the ‘border’ attribute sets the thickness of the border so that larger the number thicker is the border.

– By this syntax you can set the spacing around the image, where the ‘hspace’ defines the horizontal space and the ‘vspace’ defines the vertical space. Also note that the numbers denoting the ‘hspace’ and the ‘vspace’ are actually the amount of pixels surrounding the image.

So, now if we put all the attributes together to define and display an image, it might look like the one below;

This syntax displays an image of size 220 x 150 pixels with a link and having a border of 1 pixel wide, aligned on the right side of the page with a surrounding space of 12 pixels on all sides.
