Evaluating a Link Farm
Link farm is a group of websites that have link to other website or a specific website in that group. These are generally automated programs which exchange reciprocal links with websites in order to achieve higher rank in search engine optimization.
Apart from many other factors which help you to get good ranking in search engine, backlinks also play a very vital role and link farm does exactly the same by proving you with backlinks, they can provide you higher quantity of backlinks but not the Quality. It is always better to have 10 backlinks from website whose page rank is 6 and above rather than having 100 backings of PR 2 or below, thus using a link farm for Building your backlink is not good idea.
Some of the disadvantages of using a link farm for improving your backlinks are:
- Your website can be Banned because search engines don’t like links which are affiliated from link farms.
- Link farms hardly provides links which are related to your content of website, thus the entire process decreases your website popularity.
Thus it is always better to stay away from link farm, here are some ways which will help you to evaluate that the website is a link farm or not:
#1 Website Might have Tons of Links
When you visit a link farm, the first thing you will notice would be tons of links in the website. Thus, it’s better to move on from that website.
#2 Maintained Sloppily
It is always found that link farm website are very poorly build, link farm developers don’t spend much time on improving the design of the website. Either they might have plenty of broken links or pages might not be structured properly.
#3 Less or no Content
Link farm either have very less content or bad quality of content. It is very important to link to website which has quality content and which compliment your website content and link farms never waste time in writing good content, they just need inbound links to get high ranking.
#4 No Page Ranking
As I stated earlier that Google don’t like link farms, they either ban the website or penalize the website. Thus when you find a website with low page rank, it might be either because the website is too new to get page rank or the website is penalized by Google because of bad quality links. Thus, stay away from penalized link farm, because it can affect page ranking of your website also.
Thus always remember these points before you want to link to any other website because it might be a link farm and your website can get penalized by search engine.

“Thus, stay away from penalized link farm, because it can affect page ranking of your website also.”
How about stay away completely from Link Farm? Of course there’s a few exceptions like DMOZ (which is hard to get a link)
I applied for DMOZ link more than a month ago and until now my blog isn’t listed yet at DMOZ.
Its not easy to get listed in Dmoz.
I had tried a lot, all times failed, now not trying,
All the experts are saying that its too difficult. If you are get listed, then it will be a great thing.
Wow, even the expert say it’s hard? How about not the expert, listed on there seem impossibble?
Ya its quiet difficult to list over there
I wonder why its hard to get listed at DMOZ. Whats so special about DMOZ?
ZXT, you don’t know about DMOZ ?, Joking or serious. Just check dmoz.org.

“I wonder why its hard to get listed at DMOZ.”

“Whats so special about DMOZ?”

I don’t know the answer to those two but sure I know what DMOZ is.
Yes, i understand the question. Even i don’t know the answer. Maybe because it PR is 8/10?
It’s actually hot topic discussed on some forum. For example, on DP : forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=680392
Link farm contains 100s of website linked in unique manner. These people can Boost any website within few days irrespective to the age and content.
Yes but a lot of people been giving advice about not using link farms because your site will be penalize by Google.
Is it always 100s? So if the link only 90s, it can’t be categorized az link farm? LOL. I think, 10-15 link only, but without any content and relevancy, is a link farming.
Use link farming also Boost your Banned chance
I think google didn’t liked this ?.
Yes based on what I’ve been reading, Google doesn’t like link farms.
How about other search engines? Do they discourage us bloggers to utilize link farms?
I don’t know but better safe than sorry.
All search engine is hate link farming. And also, a lot of SE taking database from google. So, that’s mean, Banned on google = banned on a lot of SE = your site is faied.
i have never heard the concept of link farm before this….thanks for the information..i will stay away from it
I heard about it, i think its not a good way, google didn’t like the same. This is only my opinion.
same here i was also not knowing this before…i will always stay away from it
lucifer, that better, try some Bookmarking sites, delecious, jumptags, digg, reditt, stumbleupon, etc..
ya i have already implemented social sites
Yes, there is more safe and legal alternative.
Better looking for 20 link from social net/Bookmarking than 100 link from linkfarming site.
Yeah, link farm surely only give a back impact to our blog.
Link farm are dangerous for any blog so its better to stay away from it. Google algorithm easily recognize link buying and they may ban your website from being listed on search engines, blog commenting and getting pingbacks from other blogs are the best ways of link Building.
Yes that’s what I believed too. So stay away from link farm as much as possible.
Organic back links are still the best.
Find unique information…!!!! There is some link farming listed on google SERP. What is mean?
Or maybe google think, at least their have example of link farming site?
Link farm is a danger one. One of my friend’s blog is been Banned by Google due to link farm. Don’t ever try to fool around.
Link Farm seems similar to Traffic Swarm which is supposed to bring you traffic. You need to visit other sites for some seconds. But what you get isn’t worth nothing, i tried this 2 years ago but stopped it after a month. And same possibility for getting Banned by Google.
Anyway these things generate a Reputation loss for a web-site i think.
Also link farm doesn’t give you Quality visits. Most of the visits are one time only and they only visit a single page of your blog.
Is Getting Visit From Ptc Sites also Against Google???
Well i’m not sure about it. But i find a lot of site which advertising via PTC is still indexed and safe.
I will not advice for link farming, no use, if you need instant traffic try stumbleupon or digg, but don’t expect earnings. you will get massive hits.
How many hits you are getting from Digg and StumbleUpon?
I’ve been hearing Digg for a long time already but I Do not know how Digg works and how it can help me on my blog.
Its depend upon your activity, digging/stumbling time is important. please create accounts in digg and srumbleupon.
Depend on activity and circle of friend. I have good friend on digg. Every new article is shared to them and then digged.
following this we can ban our site from google and other search engines.
its a simple and easy way to get Banned
That’s why everywhere I go people advice not to go with link farms. Stay away as far as possible.
Yes, it’s for sure. But so shocking, some people still dare to Do it.
I link to at least one blog or website per post on average. The site I link to are relevant to the post subject and they are blogs I read on a daily basis. Does that mean I am a link farm? I not clear on what a link farm is.
Can someone drop some names of a link farm? Are PTC sites considered link farms?
i also have the same question that is PTC sites Considered as Link Farm
No, if the link is relevant and you’re not place it too much, it’s not link farm. It’s normal linking. Don’t worry, i can guarantee for this one.
I don’t think PTC sites are link farms but just correct me if I’m wrong.
It’s not link farm, it’s more sound like link buying. It’s also not good.
After read it, simple opinion and decision is : avoid link farm.
