This is interesting info. I am still trying to figure out which is best for my site. Image ads may get more money but if image ads don't flow with your site it will be a moot point because no one will click.

Yes, its true that Image ads pay more and also get more CTR. or atleast in my websites case. I get around 85% clicks from images and now i made my site with only image ads. And link ads make the site look ugly and pays way less, so I have only images.

Frankly speaking I am confused.
In fact I have google ads which i kept initially as image and that resulted in average earning of 2 dollars a day, but with text ads suggestions from some gurus, i switched to text but now its been absolutely cipher for a week or so, but I have some affiliate ads which are image and are getting regular CTRs.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the text ad but that's purely from a visual sense. We're currently tracking performance of the different types of ads on our deal aggregator (http://dealzoo.com.au/sydney) to determine what is the most effective and I'm anticipating the text ads will outperform the image.

my assumption text ads perform better than image ads because more related with the article. But if seen from the comparison between text and image ads all have good performance in terms of appearance and revenue .

I'm still in experimentation stage. But Text ads tend to get the best click through. But Image ads usually best for first timers.

First time visitors always click on those. But the loyal readers will always click on the text. But that's from my experience.

I think it depends on the type of your site also. For example if u have a visitor portfolio that dont like to read so much but expecting more visual things in a site, i.e a fashion blogs , shampoo sites , magazine news..etc. then image banners make more work than those small texts for fast teenagers who dont like thinking or reading so much :).

But if you have a book review site, then go with text ads..I am trying this in my site now..

If you will ask me, Text will always do it. Readers hate ads and seeing an image will make them think that your site is just about ads.
