Needless to say that a Blog is way more flexible, user friendly and easier to maintain. Now lets Dig deeper and compare them.

# Why you should have a Blog in your Static Website?

The very obvious reason for having a Blog in your static Website is  its Flexibility. Blogs are flexible, easier to navigate and easier to subscribe. You can start a Blog in Minutes and above all you do not require any HTML or programming language. The existence of blogging platforms like WordPress, Movable type, Tumblr and even Blogger has made it quite easy for anyone (or everyone ) to start a blog in a couple of minutes.

However the most important part of running a blog  side by side to your static Website is  its ability to reach a global audience via RSS feeds and social networks. Static Website fail in this area as they are harder to remember or they do not provide an RSS feed.

Thirdly, unlike static Website Blogs are interactive in nature. There are features like comments and trackbacks that allows users and readers to interact with your ideas and leave comments. Static Website again are incompatible in  user interaction and a common user is unable to post any Comment or ask a question. This may mean a monotonous nature of sharing  thoughts which is harder to get accepted in the days to come.

# Blogs are the gateway to Traffic

So its obvious that by having a blog you are entering a new world of information and conversation. You can easily publish content and promote it without having to worry about other Technical features as in case of a static website. Moreover blogs allow you to leave remarks  and comments in other blogs which will further create a solid brand of your website. People will know you exist and readers are most likely to expect the type of content that you write or the services that you deliver if you have a blog.

However in case of a Static website things are quite the same but the only thing is that you cannot create your brand that easily as in the case of a blog. You cannot deliver RSS feeds , you cannot have Comments, You cannot have pingbacks or trackbacks and moreover things become complicated and very very difficult to maintain with time.

# Does  having a Blog Influence the Search engines?

Yes. Search engines love textual content and the more frequently you update your website (with useful content of course ) the more important you become in the eyes of search engines. The problem with static websites is that you cannot update them as frequently or as easily as you can update a blog.Typically a Blog contains a WYSIWYG editor and you can publish new content as and when you want. You do not need to know any HTML knowledge to publish content. So having a blog running in parallel with your static website will surely Boost your search engine positions.

# Does having a Blog Save you Time  in any sense?

You may ask a Question here. What is the problem with content on static websites ? I can create a New page and upload it to my Server and link the page  from my Old pages ? What’s the big deal in having a Blog ?

The answer is : Time and energy. if you have a static website  with 10 pages then it wont be hectic to add an 11th page in your website. It’s really simple. But if you have hundreds ( if not thousands) of pages in your website then it would be difficult for you to maintain a static website. You have to write the content and Link it  from all the other pages manually. The situation becomes worse as the size of  your website increases. Moreover there is nothing automated in case of static websites and it can be really messy handling all the pages on your own and linking them or keeping the whole unit organized and user friendly.

However the situation is different in case of blogs. Most blogs run on a database and blogs are automated that saves you a Lot of time and energy. You can schedule your articles, have an automated contact form, necessary plugins and softwares etc etc. These services are not available in case you are handling a static website. Moreover Blogger platforms are written by professionals and they are way more secured and efficient to work with.
