8 hours is realistic for template conversation from PSD to XHTML. The W3C is worth it. This company is likely to have a team of designers. When I build a website in HTML and CSS, I used Photoshop and design the layout, then slice it and create the interface in Dreamweaver and handcode with CSS plus XHTML. This is how most Quality designers create sites.
One of different note, I’ve noticed that since I’ve installed plugins on my blog that the W3C validation has become worse, so I am wondering how valid are some of the Open Source plugins are for WordPress.
It is important, to consider WC3, for the Importance of SEO.
@James WC3 is not important for SEO. I am sorry to say but you have the wrong information. If any ebook told you that WC3 is needed for SEO then you should throw it away. If any so called SEO Guru told you so then he lied to you.

The Importance WC3 is that a website can be crawled easier by the search engines. Valid code is important to ensure that the site can be read properly. This is what I’ve been told.

@lax @stesuff WC3 does nothing for SEO. It is a lie which SEO Guru tells. I have done some research work on it. First I used to be worried about WC3, but it really does nothing. I guarantee you.
Lax its not most blogs, it all blogs. Do not believe then go and check as many as you can. A blog will only be able to pass WC3 validation if it is written in very simple HTML i.e. no extra widgets, no plugins etc. I used to make HTML blogger templates few years back. Whenever I tied to add complexity to the templates they would become invalid for WC3 validation.

I have to agree with you on this. Start Embedding Flash. I work with a few designers at work. At some, believe that the WC3 is just nit picky, it could be. But I can not judge, until there are some more facts.
I’ve tried to see other blogs if they are valid including Problogger. Loads of the blogs aren’t.
But by the responses here, there are a lot of myths about the WC3, that need to be addressed.

Yes James, Not only WC3 validation there are many small small things we don’t know.But potentially some of them plays big role when your blogs grows for years.
People say they will take care of all these things, if we buy theme with them or order custom theme.Don’t know how far they will fulfill these.
They seems to be very costly guys. Normal bloggers can’t afford them. But may be its worth the cost.

I think its very smart ways for converting it to psd to xhtml even it cost it will be worthy for every designer….
I was wondering how they convert PSD to XHTML. Before I started blogging, I made a research how to make a website through Dream Weaver or Adobe Photoshop where you convert your PSD project to XHTML.
Since then, I am still searching how I could Do that.
In my early blogging I don’t know how to convert PSD to XHTML. But then I learn about it till I know how to convert. Start from slicing an image till finishing. But only simple one could I made.
