TZI Blogging Series:Brief Note on Google Feedburner and Reader
Blogging needs not only skills, it also requires some kind of publicity as well. Since your blog is pretty new, it has to be shown at least to every single person in your community and group of friends you have. So here comes the words RSS FEEDS and RSS READERS. Let me tell you something brief about this RSS stuff.
Every blog that is hosted by a free Hosting company has a default feed address, which stores the Latest articles you have posted in your blog; and that is named as RSS feed. However self hosted blogs need to generate feeds using some Tools that are available online. These feeds can also be managed by Google feedburner ( Note:Google feedburner is a online application created by Google where you can actually make changes to your blog feed and to track feed performance. ) which actually give your audience a brief look at the contents of your blog.
Here are some of the cool features of Google feedburner. Feedburner allows you to shorten the test description of blog posts to the X number of words you mention, this also allows the user to visit your page to read the rest of the content in your blog. Email Subscription, can also be enables where users can get your latest articles to their email ID.
Social Bookmarking can also be activated with which users can bookmark your page from the feed. There are lot more features available that will give you good control over your feed. Here is how TechZoomIn feed looks, you can click on the link and subscribe using Google reader to get latest news letters from TechZoomIn to your Google feed reader account.
Google Reader, is also a special application that is designed to store feeds of different websites and blogs. This will allow you to look at contents of different blogs and websites from a single place. You can manage your friends feeds, top rated feeds and many more with a single Google Reader account. There is much more to tell about this but, it would be great if you can actually have a good look at both Google Feedburner and Google Reader to understand them a little better.
Hope this article helped you in giving a basic idea about Google Feedburner and Google Reader. Any doubts, suggestions and comments are most appreciated. We get back to you, with another tutorial in the next episode of TechZoomIn Blogging Series. Until then, its good bye! Happy Blogging!!

“self hosted blogs need to generate feeds using some Tools that are available online”
I’m not really sure what you mean with this sentence. If you are using WordPress it will create a feed for you automatically which means that you don’t have to use a online tool for it.
Stefan you are right, WordPress automatically generate feeds. Actually other Blog softwares also by default create feeds automatically.
So I guess Lax wrote this by mistake.
