Best Practices in Web design and Development!

April 18th, 2009 by Lax

In blogging world apart from luck and hard work, you should also maintain some unique and brand value to get attention in the middle of big shots. Brand value comes with the things like good domain, unique theme & design, Quality in content and author’s honesty. Hope I’m correct till now :)

Today I want to discuss the best practices one should follow in the design and development phase of their projects. Right from planning, layout, design and everything that fits your requirements and which shows your brand value.

Here is a simple checklist you should see in your design:

  1. Page Layout
  2. Browser Compatibility
  3. Navigation
  4. Color and Graphics
  5. Multimedia
  6. Content Presentation
  7. Functionality
  8. Accessibility
  9. SEO
  10. Marketing
  11. Security
  12. Legal stuff

It’s better to hire a developer, who can look into all these things to develop and deliver. Proper design plays major role in SEO and revenue generations. You can order & get your loving designs on freelance sites like 99designs.com.

Before ordering you should also know what to have and what not to have on the theme/design. For that you need to observe some good themes on the web and need to decide/segregate your requirements properly.

You can learn/read Web Development Best Practices from Theworkingweb, Best source to fulfill your design and business needs. There are many paid resources which you can simply buy and implement to improve your business online. There are many sources out there offering these services. Andreas explained this topic more clearly on Why you need Best Practices in Web Development?

All in all best planning and follow-up makes the difference online. One should be very different and active to get success here. Hope this made you think! Happy Blogging!

I’m trying to get a custom/best/unique theme for TechZoomIn.Please let me know if any designers out here interested or any suggestions! Please contact me if you’re interested to design a theme for me!

  • Hi Lax,

Nice to see this dude. My suggestion is instead of going for custom design through many other theme sites, you can simply go to 99designs and can quote your requirements with your own price tag.

99design is a nice place to get custom theme. There are qualified designers.

Browser Compatibility is a issue I always face. I try to build my theme as per IE8 and Firefox 3. I have not installed Opera so Do not know how it looks there.

Navigation and page layout is the most important thing for me.
