Basic Steps in Designing WordPress Themes

If you are looking to create your own WordPress themes, there are some basic information you should know before doing it all by yourself. The following article will be useful to bloggers looking to design their own WordPress theme.
Choosing colors: The colors should have good contrast so that the content is easily readable. Select the colors and stick to it.
Plan your layout: Plan beforehand about where your links and banners are going to appear. If you are thinking about including banners and textual links, RSS feeds, you should know where these will be located on your template. Provide space for a ‘home’ button in your template. This can improve the navigation in your WordPress theme.
Plan your theme for better speed of accessibility: To increase load speed of your WordPress blog, you should Reduce usage of plugins, widgets, Images etc.
Using Child themes will make it easier: When you are thinking about designing a WordPress theme, it is better to use child themes. A Child Theme inherit all template related files from a Parent Theme, other than style.css and functions.php. So you have less coding to Do. Also, rewriting only the CSS you want to modify can save more time.
Validate your code: You should validate your code to see if it meets industry standards. There are lots of websites providing online website validation services.
Get help online: If you have any doubts, you can get support online. You can visit forums like themeshaper.com for this. There is plenty of information on the internet, just spend some time on it and you will find the right resources.
