Some very neat looking themes Lax. They look like they they present a lot of information, without being cluttered, which is exactly the thing that people who use these types of themes need. Majapahit is my favorite. It looks great.
I still don’t prefer magazine themes for blogs. But many people are using these type.
I like that “Small Magazine Theme” anyway.
I think it depends on what your content is really, and who your readers are. For some, a magazine theme would help display their posts optimally, whilst for others, it would be far from that.

Wow, there are many great magazine theme here. I personally like majapahit theme.
I have seen most of them and the only thing which they lack is support,Probably one downside of free theme. though I like the Majapahit theme. Its home page is good for landing page.
I thought it was a converted blogger template. They are so cool I hope I could have that also…
Magazine themes has all great…. I would ask my friend to convert some of those themes… hehehe…
Search on Google. Maybe the blogger version are also available.
Some popular themes is converted for blogspot platform. Googling it. Or you can rent the expert to convert it. But i dunno if it’s against the rules or no. Request a permission from the themes author first

Hybrid theme looks cool – Magsin Dos is difficult to edit.

i downloaded “Hybrid News” and tried installing but got this following error after upload :-
The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
Template is missing.
But i could Do it on my localbox, i have not tried it to actual site, did you downloaded an uploaded the theme using ftp and tried activating it ?
Aliva Press stands out in the above collection in the themes..it has the best navigation which is one of the most important aspect of a blog.
