50 Ways To Push Your RSS Count

Many of you know that i participated actively on my first ever blogging contest Blogging Idol hosted by my friend Daniel. What i learned from that? Why i participated? Well, My primary intension was to learn something new, not on winning the contest.

I learned many things from the contest like how to communicate with the Readers to ask them for the support i need to win the title,New ideas like whom to contact,Email request asking to subscribe,commenting actively to gain the peoples attention and many more like this.But the main aim is: increase RSS count,daily visitors and win the title. This is what i followed to gain 130 RSS readers in just 30 days time.

Total 104 competitors at the contest and every one tried their level best to gain RSS count. And they shared all the strategies they followed to gain the count.Daniel summed up some of them with his own strategies for us.Here am sharing them in brief with you.

  1. Have a big RSS icon
  2. Display the RSS icon above the fold
  3. Display the RSS icon on every page of your blog
  4. Use words
  5. Write a post asking for people to subscribe
  6. Use the FeedSmith plugin
  7. Offer email subscriptions
  8. Use an email subscription form
  9. Encourage readers to subscribe at the bottom of every post
  10.  As few steps as possible
  11.  Use icons to offer subscription on the most popular RSS readers
  12.  Have clear focus on your blog
  13.  Publish new posts frequently and consistently
  14.  Don’t exaggerate
  15.  Write valuable content
  16.  Write unique content
  17.  Don’t ramble or go off topic
  18.  Use your RSS feed link when commenting on other blogs
  19.  Run a contest
  20.  Offer random prizes to your Subscribers
  21.  Write guest posts
  22.  Welcome the new readers
  23.  Go popular on social Bookmarking sites
  24.  Explain to your readers what is RSS
  25.  Have a special “Subscribe” page with all the info and links there
  26.  Create a landing page on your blog to convert visitors in subscribers
  27.  Send traffic to that page using PPC
  28.  Write an ebook and ask people to subscribe in order to download it
