5 Reasons Why the Count of your Blog Readers Drops
We really feel delighted when we see that the RSS Subscribers to our blog are increasing. We then get more interested in blogging and start posting more articles to share with all. But there may be some time when you will find the number of subscribers to your blog getting reduced all of a sudden.
You might be wondering what can be the reason. Usually, first we think that there might be some problem with the Feedburner statistics. But it’s not what you think. Here, I list you the top 5 Reasons why you can have a sudden drop in your subscribers count.
#1 Lack of Variety
When you write articles of same type again and again, your readers get bored with it and unsubscribe. If you have a blog on health and fitness, don’t just write articles on different kind of cancers one after another. Write on exercising techniques and food items too in between. This way you make your readers to wait for your next article with lots of interest because they don’t know what subject you are going to cover next.
#2 Inconsistencies in posting Articles
This is also a major reason for losing interest in any blog. If you start posting thrice a week and then all of a sudden you start posting twice a day and then again you make up your mind to post twice a month, you are bound to lose your readers. It is very important that you follow some kind of order and even if it’s not possible, remain somewhere close to it. You readers wait for your article after a certain period of time. Making them waits for too long or bombarding them with articles one after other all of a sudden make them really annoyed.
#3 Uninteresting and Lengthy posts
This is a very common problem. When you write posts that are too long and boring, readers don’t find any interest in them and stop reading them. Moreover, as we all know that time is very precious for all of us. We should not make our readers to spend large amount of time reading an article. Make it short and to the point. If you put out boring content that has no Importance to anyone, you will see decrease in your subscribers count soon.
#4 Lack of Focus
You should not deviate from the theme of your blog. If you start writing articles on sunglasses while your blog is on health and fitness then your readers are going to lose interest in your blog easily. You need to stay focused and cover topics relevant to your blog. One or two on some occasion is acceptable. But posting irrelevant posts consistently for a long time can cost you the loss of readers in no time.
#5 Boasting of yourself and making negative comments
Writing on controversial topics and making negative comments on them can hurt many of your reader’s feeling. This is something that can have a severe negative impact on your blog. Also, when you boast of yourself all the time in your articles saying how successful you are, readers think you to be an egoist and start disliking you thereby affecting your readers count.
Keep all these points in mind. I am sure you will get good number of readers in your blog. You will be loved and appreciated by your readers. Pass on your valuable comments on this. Happy Blogging!!

Lack of Inconsistencies acc to me is the biggest problem since many become inconsistencies bcoz they dont earn that much that they expected or they want to earn fast in that thought they become Inconsistencies in blogging…and other things are also equally responsible in the dropping of reader count…
Ok then search for your consistency. Solution :
Consistency = Motivation + Passion
Motivation : What is your purpose to make that blog?
Passion : Choose topic which you love
I agree with you akira. Passion + Motivation are the keys for consistency.
I can not said it better. Passion is what runs most of our blogs.
And just for advice, some people motivation is a money. It’s OK, but be careful and aware that money can’t be comes so easily
Nice tips Lax, I’ve come to your blog after a very long time and as usual your rockin
Keep up the good work
Cheers
Sandeep
Welcome back the ” Curious Little Person ” Sandeep,
Hope you will be regular.
Good points especially #5, I usually unsubscribe to feeds that are only about how much money someone made or pictures of the food they ate.
I prefer that they Tell & show me how it’s done, don’t brag! And I am still trying to figure out how one particular blogger increased his RSS http://www.techzoomin.com/simple-firefox-plugin-to-get-back-all-your-unverified-subscribers-into-feedburner-count/“>Subscribers by 20k overnight, sounds fishy to me.
For #5, i think there’s need some explanation about differences between controversial post and abusing post.
It’s because, some people even recommended me to make controversial post to drive more traffic.
For example, in my country there is corruption case, and there is a people make a post about who is the corruptor, and he is state some name, that post drive about 500+ Comment and still going.
I think, if you discuss about religion and politics, many people will surely react, both positive and negative.
Yes religion is a very sensitive topic. You will either gain friends or enemies.
It’s hard to write about religion article. It’s will react (+) or (-). For example, article which discuss about war of moeslem-west on the east asia. Actually, there is no relation with moeslem or any religion, it’s just normal war againts terrorist. But because the terorist is moeslem, many people think moeslem is terorist, in fact it’s wrong.
Great Post.
I think you are spot on with these tips. I think that if you are very inconsistent blogger, the rss reasder base will drop.
I think if you are inconsistent then you won’t even gain any readers.
But don’t underestimate with consistency. Consistent to make 1 post/month is totally wrong
I’m happy I was able to read this. I’m about to setup my own blog and I’m thinking of posting lots of articles. I didn’t realize, it will annoy readers if I keep on posting new topics too much (let say twice a day). Thanks for pointing this out Lax!
Off topic: I would like to ask everybody’s opinion, I’m still in the process of choosing my domain name. I’m thinking of getting this. “Renz Central”. Do you think it’s a good name?
You mean without the space right? RenzCentral seems a good name.
Anyways, if you have lots of articles to post, I think you can write them all but postpone their postings.
Thank you for that important advice Master ZXT! I will surely write more when I have free time. Then I’ll publish them one at a time.
Yes I never did that but its better so your blog consistently updates every now and then instead of posting 3 updates in one day then no post for 1 week.
Well, yes, and i’m vitim of one blog who update 2-3x per day. Sorry to not disclose it, but it’s slyvi****.com . The strange thing is, the blog sold for $9000.
This is really a good article. It will help newbies bloggers to straighten out their blogs. Heck it will even help old bloggers too.
we can use some contests to the blog readers so they will not unsubscribe.
Haha, you’re right but i think this article is “a way to keep reader using natural technique”. Contest is jus strategy/alternative, even the reader count is not decreased, it’s too bad that i’m sure mostly of them here because a contest only (their are not reading, commenting, etc..)
Yeah, you surely get the point there. I usually unsubscribe the blog if experience the point in this article.
I have subscribed to less blogs, i practice to visit my favorites daily.
How many blogs is less for you Anish? 5? 10? I think I only subscribed to about 8.
Me is about 15
and all is come to same email. Well, but their are so active.
Same here Anish
. I also try to visit my fav blogs which i am subscribed too.
Informative article
. I try to follow most of the above mentioned tips.
nice post…..uninteresting posts is the one reason that should be kept in mind….
For point #3, the solution is to divide the long article into some part
I’m also tired when see too long article.
I only read about first 5 paragraphs then I skip the rest. If the first paragraph isn’t intersting, I stop reading and look for something else.
Yes thats why your first sentence must be interesting enough.
Haha so first 5 paragraph is an indicator, right? But i think 3 paragraph is enough to know if the article is interesting or no
Yes maybe 500 words or less per article? more than 1000 words is too much I guess.
500 word is seem enough for one article. More than that, please divide it
lax, nice post, for me i have less RSS http://www.techzoomin.com/simple-firefox-plugin-to-get-back-all-your-unverified-subscribers-into-feedburner-count/“>Subscribers, for me their is no drop in the readers, its increasing slowly.

but sometime, feed count not work perfectly well.. because one day i have 300 subscriber, next day 200 something and the the next next day back to 300plus.. how can it change so rapidly?
I have the same question, sometimes I see 35 readers then next day only 20 then back to 30.
It’s just a bug of feeds system. To get most accurate, just login to your feed account and see the subscriber database.
Okay thanks I will Do that.
Hope your problem already solved. So, how much is your real subscriber? Hope it’s good number
